Like most people I have experienced prejudice in some form so I can empathise to a point but will never totally understand what black people all around the world experience daily and have gone through collectively for over 400 years.
The hashtag #alllivesmatter comes up a lot in response to #blacklivesmatter. Although often meant in a good way it is counterproductive to #blacklivesmatter as it shifts the focus away from the main issue..
To break it down:
Bob sits down at the dinner table.
Everyone gets a plate of food apart from Bob.
Bob says "Bob deserves food".
Everyone at the table responds with "Everyone deserves food." and carries on eating.
Although Everyone Deserves Food is a true statement it does nothing to actually rectify the fact...
